What Cats Do Book Tag

So I came across this book tag through Sara @ the Bibliophagist and I knew I had to do it because a) I have 4 cats and b) I love cats and finally, c) books and cats are better together so here we go!

Purr — As cats do this when they’re happy or relaxed, what is the book that makes you happiest or relaxed?

What, like I’m not going to pick this book? I read and re-read it all the time. I love Ella and this book always makes me feel happy.

Sleep — What is a book that put you to sleep or was just boring?

Oh how I hated reading this book in high school. I found it terribly, terribly dull and no one can change my mind on that. For an “epic” poem, it’s not too exciting, but hey, it was a different time. It’s not my cup of tea.

Twitch While Dreaming — Have you ever dreamt of a book you read?

Now don’t look at my funny, but I was the target age when this book came out, I picked it up before it was a major hit, and I really, really loved it. Now, as an older, wiser me, I can look back and say, “Hey, that book is really stupid on many levels,” but I for sure dreamt about it. It was in my thoughts a lot in those days.

Seems To Play Nice…Until the Claws Are Out! — Which book had the biggest plot twist(s)?

This book messed me up! It messed me up and no, I did not see the ending coming and I wept tears of bitterness and betrayal, I was so upset. And books don’t normally make me cry. There are plenty of twists in this (yes, tear-jerker) book, but I was expecting them. Until the end. The movie doesn’t do it justice.

Cuddles — Which book character would you give a hug to?

Oh Neville, you beautiful soul! I thought of many characters from the HP universe, but Neville, I think, deserves the most love – the boy who could have been in Harry’s shoes. He’s a perfect little cinnamon roll and we must protect him!

Catnip — What’s a book that made you have fuzzy feels?

To be honest, all of Sarah Dessen’s books make me feel fuzzy feelings. They’re just so cute and lovely! But I particularly like Dexter and Remy and this book made me very, very happy!

Cat Breeds — Your favorite book(s)?

Well, I already used Ella Enchanted earlier in this post, otherwise consider that book in here as well. It’s too difficult to pick just one favorite book – I love many books for different reasons and from different genres, so it’s unfair to pick one!

That’s why I have Trouble is a Friend of Mine, a quirky, hilarious YA mystery (seriously, it’s awesome, go read it!) and Ender’s Game, a hard-core Sci-Fi novel (I love the whole series), that I fell in love with in my youth. Honestly, between Ella Enchanted and Ender’s Game, I must have read them over and over twenty times. I was obsessed! They’re both great books, I love them and I highly recommend them.

Getting the Cat — How did you find your favorite book(s)?

Where else? The library!

The Vet’s Office — Your least favorite book

I could put several books on this list (here’s looking at you A Farewell to Arms, The Trial, and Invisible Man), but I chose this one because every time I think about it, I can’t repress the shudder of loathing that goes through me. I really can’t stand this book.

Being In Places They Shouldn’t — Least favorite cliché?

Not a perfect representation (i.e. imagine a girl with two guy options)

I hate Love Triangles with a passion. Sure, some have their place in literature and I respect ones that generally make sense or were written well before this became a trend. But it happens much, much too often. I understand that many people can be liked by more than one person, but it doesn’t have to be a factor all the time. If you’re looking for a conflict for a relationship, be a bit more creative, please!

The Good Old Cardboard Box — Most Underrated Book Series?

Covers of the Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles

I don’t know if this series can be considered underrated because I read them well outside of their original publication and they weren’t a big thing when I read them, but I also don’t seem them referred to as much when talking about classic fantasy fiction series, which is a crime because Patricia C. Wrede’s Enchanted Forest Chronicles is awesome and I defy you to find me a fantasy series that I would like more than this!

Here are snaps of all four (YES, FOUR!) cats. No, I am not a crazy cat lady, I’m just a cat lady.

I’m not up on the tagging, but if you like cats, feel free to give this one a try! Feel free to steal the tag, but don’t forget to link back to me so I can see all your answers! I want to know what you think about cats, books, etc.!

    1. Thank you! Yours are, too! I agree about the well-written love-triangle. They are so few and far between, but they do exist!
