Hello again! It’s Tuesday, and of course that means it’s time for a Top 5 post. Top 5 Tuesdays and their topics are brought to you by Shanah @ the Bionic Bookworm. Check out her blog, she’s awesome, and this page for the list of topics for September!
There are so many books I could pick for this topic. I start series all the time but for some reason just don’t get around to finishing them. Part of it has to do with having to wait between books for publication, and then I’m no longer in the groove. Which is why lots of the time I try to wait until series are finished before even starting.
Let’s check it out:
Red Rising Saga – Pierce Brown

Ugh! Don’t get me started on this one. I didn’t expect to like the first book so much! But it was fantastic and I fully intend to finish this series, especially when this one ended on a bit of a cliff-hanger. I wanted to see where this would go. One of these days, I’m going to get to it.
Trouble Series – Stephanie Tromly

I absolutely adored the first couple of books in this series. And then, when the third book, Trouble Never Sleeps, came out, I bought it immediately. Then I even started reading it…but I didn’t finish. And not because the book was bad! No, I was just caught up in things and I didn’t get back to it. But I love this series and I am definitely reading the third one ASAP!!!
Jackaby Series – William Ritter

I recommend this book series all the time. It’s such a neat cross between crime-drama and supernatural fantasy romp and 1800 England. It’s pretty great! I’ve read the first three books in this series, but I have yet to read the latest publication, The Dire King. I’m excited to see where the story goes.
Warm Bodies Series – Isaac Marion

I was totally surprised by how much I liked Warm Bodies. So when I heard that Marion had written a sequel, I instantly put it on my TBR. Though I still haven’t gotten around to it, I fully plan to, probably after I do a re-read of Warm Bodies. If you haven’t read either book, definitely check it out! Halloween is just around the corner, and this is one of the best zombie books I’ve read!
The Ascendance Trilogy – Jennifer A. Nielsen

I am constantly kicking myself for not having finished this series. The first book was such a ride! And I loved the audiobook, too. It was a really well done production. What I liked most about this book was how much if felt like a familiar fantasy world, yet the story was so unique and interesting. I hope the rest of the series matches up to the level of this one.
Thoughts & Thanks!
What do you think of my selections? Did any of your favorites make it on this list? Thank you for reading this post. Let’s chat in the comments! And, as always, happy reading!
I haven’t finished The False Prince series. I read the first two books and while I loved the first book, the second one was a bit of a drag. I’m not sure if I’ll finish the series or not.

Good to know. I really loved the first one, and it’s always a toss-up about follow-up books. I’ll read it to see what I think. Part of me doesn’t like leaving things unfinished, but I certainly have dropped series in the past that I did not enjoy.

Honestly, I’d say give it a go? It looks like a bunch of people really did like it but my coworker and I both dropped the series after book 2. Life’s too short to finish series you’re not fully enjoying – you gotta spend that time starting more series that you’ll forget to finish 😂

Hands down agree! That’s why I didn’t finish A Court of Thorns and Roses or And I Darken.

Right! But, like, he just published the sequel, so I don’t know if there’ll be anything after that, but….I have to read it!

I’m sure we have a Pierce Brown novel lurking in the house somewhere. Shall have to go looking for it now…
