It’s beginning to look a lot like fall! Wow, I felt like the summer went by so quickly! Though part of September is still summer, for some reason, it never feels like that! I’m looking forward to it almost being Halloween! But first, September!
Here’s the layout for my September reads (I’m planning on keeping it light, this month):
Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge 2019:

The Bees by Laline Paull: I remember reading about this book in a recommendation list and found myself intrigued. The entirety of the book is written from the perspective of a bee…which is different! Luckily, it fulfills the prompt for a book “in which an animal or inanimate object is a POV character.” I look forward to seeing the close, interconnected intrigues among bees and how that translates to a story.
Reading Women Challenge 2019 books:

Iron Cast by Destiny Soria: I have been meaning to read this for soooo long! I finally managed to find a challenge prompt that suited this. It’s fulfilling the “YA book by a WOC.” It’s about a girl who has supernatural powers. I’m curious to see how it is!
ARC of the Month:
His Hideous Heart: 13 of Edgar Allan Poe’s Most Unsettling Tales Reimagined, edited by Dahlia Adler: If you don’t know this about me, it’ll be clear now: I love Edgar Allan Poe! I jumped at the chance to get an ARC of this book. I’m eager to see what this group of authors manages to do with his stories, translating them in new and different ways. This kinds of books can be hit or miss, but I’m optimistic about this one!
The Grace Year by Kim Liggett: Another dystopian YA. I can’t help myself! But this book seemed intriguing for sure! It’s being compared to A Handmaid’s Tale and The Power, both books that I definitely interested me. I am always interested in books that look deeply into the connections between women, especially if it’s in a supernatural or sci-fi setting.
My TBR Picks:

Pride by Ibi Zoboi: I’m always looking for Pride & Prejudice re-imaginings and here is a newly minted one! I read Zoboi’s American Street only just last year and it was pretty good! I’m looking forward to seeing how Zoboi tackles this timeless story of love breaking through class barriers.
What books are you reading this month?
If you’ve read any books from my list, let me know what you think! Do you have any of these selections on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
It’s another month of reading dangerously and I hope I’m up to the challenge!
I enjoyed The Bees, but I do tend to like animal POV stories. Hope you will enjoy it too 🙂
