Tim Burton Readathon TBR | October TBR

So I’m attempting another Readathon…dun dun DUN! I really wanted to do something special for October, since, you know, Halloween is awesome, why not do some awesome reading?

I just happened upon this one on the Wonderfilled Reads blog and it is being hosted by MedusaReads on Twitter. It runs the whole month of October and the nice thing is, it’s really just for fun, no point system or nothing!

| The Rules |

Essentially all you have to do is pick one of the prompts for each movie and read a book, comic, manga of your choice to go with it – then watch the movie (which is such a hardship, I know!)

Look below for the categories and their prompts:

| My TBR |

Nightmare Before Christmas – Read a Book with a Holiday Theme

Pumpkinheads – Rainbow Rowell

This book finally came in to my library and I knew it would fit perfectly for this prompt! I’ve been waiting for it since I got a sneak-peek ARC of it. I’m so, so excited!

Beetlejuice – Read a Book with a Helpful Spirit/Ghost/Person

Anya’s Ghost – Vera Brosgol

I’ve heard good things about this book, and I think it fits this readathon. I mean, it’s about a girl and a ghost…how perfect for a Tim Burton prompt?!

9 – Read a Book with Green on the Cover

The Plus One – Sarah Archer

I did a little stretching to make this book fit into this readathon. I came across this book recently and immediately put it on hold and I just got it, so I want to read it immediately!

Edward Scissorhands – Read a Book with a heart on the Cover

A Heart So Fierce and Broken – Brigid Kemmerer (ARC of the Month)

I nearly cried with joy when I found out I snagged an ARC of this. I’m so, so thrilled because I desperately wanted to read it as soon as I’d finished the first book. And yes, there is a heart on this cover – it’s subtle, but it’s there!

Sweeney Todd – Read a Book with a Murder

The Big Sleep – Raymond Chandler

It’s about time I make good on my promise to myself to read some Raymond Chandler. Now’s my chance, and I’m taking it!

Corpse Bride – Read a Book with Forbidden Love

The Guinevere Deception – Kiersten White (ARC of the Month)

I’m really excited about this book! I do enjoy Arthurian legend, and I’m looking forward to seeing the twist that White is putting into it.

Dark Shadows – Read a Book with a Vampire

Halfway to the Grave – Jeaniene Frost

I’m so glad for an excuse to finally read this book. A friend of mine lent me this book and I haven’t had an opportunity yet to read…until now!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Read a Book with Purple on the Cover

If You Leave Me – Crystal Hana Kim

I was happy to double up with one of my reading challenge books with this readathon (this will satisfy my Reading Women prompt: a book from the 2018 Reading Women Award shortlist). I’m really looking forward to this one!

Thoughts & Thanks

What are your October plans? Will you be reading anything spooky? If you plan to do this readathon, I’d love to hear about it! We can cheer each other on!

Thank you so much for checking out my post! Let’s chat in the comments!

What books are you reading this month?

If you’ve read any books from my list, let me know what you think! Do you have any of these selections on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!

It’s another month of reading dangerously and I hope I’m up to the challenge!
