Favorite Book of the Month:

I was so excited to read this book, thanking my lucky stars that I snagged an ARC of it, and I’m thrilled that it lived up to my expectations. I really enjoyed this book – it has everything I want in a fantasy – magic, adventure, really likeable characters. Make sure to check out my review if you haven’t already – the link is up above in the “What I Read” section.
Least Favorite Book of the Month:

I had two – TWO! – DNF’s this month. As someone who hates not finishing a book, I’m really bummed. But I don’t want to count those here, since I didn’t read them all the way through. So, technically If You Leave Me is left as my least favorite. I didn’t dislike the book, but it wasn’t my cup of tea. It was far more depressing than I was expecting, I didn’t really like any of the characters, and the ending is, overall, very unsatisfying for me. Stay tuned for my review, where I’ll go into more detail about it.

Tim Burton Readathon Results:

I think I did pretty well on this Readathon, despite not completing it fully. Two out of the eight books I did not finish – not because I ran out of time, but because I just…didn’t want to finish them.
A Heart So Fierce and Broken…broke me. I loved, loved, loved the first one! I did feel a bit as though this didn’t need to be a series…but I was excited to see what the second book had in store – and let me tell you, it was not what I was expecting and definitely not what I wanted! I just…it was really making me mad and I just had to put it down. I Marie Kondo-ed that book because it did not spark joy! I have many reasons, but this is not the place…
The Plus One was just…not interesting. The writing was so, so flat. Sarah Archer has apparently done a lot of writing work in the television industry, which is fine, but…I don’t think this book is well written. It was cringy enough that I just couldn’t keep reading. Everything was tell not show and I was just not liking the characters. So I Marie Kondo-ed it, too! No regrets!
How about you?
