Top 5 Anticipated Books for 2020 | Top 5 Tuesdays

Hello again! It’s Tuesday, and of course that means it’s time for a Top 5 post. Top 5 Tuesdays and their topics are brought to you by Shanah @ the Bionic Bookworm. Check out her blog, she’s awesome, and this page for the list of topics for January!

I’m excited to take a look at what 2020 has in store. There are quite a few authors that I know and love that are coming out with new books this year and I couldn’t be happier! Let’s take a look at some of my most anticipated releases for this year:

1. Cracked Up To Be – Courtney Summers

Anticipated release date: February 4th

I’m excited to see a new book by Summers. I really enjoyed Sadie and this book sounds like she’s taking on a new topic, but I sense that it’ll have the same mysterious vibes that Sadie did. I was a little late getting to Sadie, so here’s hoping that I don’t wait as long to crack this one open!

2. Red Hood – Elana K. Arnold

Anticipated release date: February 25th

I only just heard about this book last week and I’m so, so excited for it! I really liked her book Damsel, and I think this book, which is a play on Red Riding Hood, will have a similar vibe and I am so here for it! I really enjoyed Arnold’s writing and the tension she created in her story in Damsel, so I’m looking forward to seeing what she does with the whole Red Riding Hood trope.

3. The Silence of Bones – June Hur

Anticipated release date: April 21st

I am drawn to pretty much any book that is about or deals with Korean culture. This book sounds so interesting! It’s historical fiction, plus mystery, all taking place in Korea during the Joseon era (a very popular time setting). I’m sure I’ll be picturing this as a K-Drama in my head all while reading it. I’m very pleased to have garnered an ARC for this one, so I’ll be able to read it a little before the release date!

4. Queen’s Peril – E.K. Johnston

Anticipated release date: May 5th

I am so, so excited for this book. I liked Johnston’s previous book about Padme Amidala, The Queen’s Shadow and now she’s writing another one! I’m just too excited for words. Plus, check that gorgeous cover! They’ve done it again. The first book was beautiful and I’m so glad this next one is keeping up that trend. Man, I love Star Wars!

5. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes – Suzanne Collins

Anticipated release date: May 19th

I’m sure I’m not alone in my excitement about this book coming out! I really loved Collins’ Hunger Games series and I’m excited that she’s taking us back to the early stages of Panem and of the Hunger Games. I’ll be curious to see what familiar faces will be in this one as well as to see if I enjoy it as much as I did the original series.

Thoughts & Thanks!

What do you think of my selections? What are some of your most anticipated 2020 book releases? Let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading this post. And, as always, happy reading!

    1. Thank you! I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but you should definitely read Sadie! It is very good. I listened to the audiobook, and because of the book structure, it makes the whole thing sound like a podcast, which is really cool!
