Down The TBR Hole is a meme created by lost in a story that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

The rules:

• Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
• Order on ascending date added.
• Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course, if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
• Read the synopses of the books
• Decide: keep it or should it go?

Picking up from where I left off:

Britt-Marie Was Here – Fredrik Backman

This will not have been my first Backman book to read. I loved his book Beartown, and I find it so interesting that all of his books are so different in subject matter. This book centers around a woman who can’t stand disorganization and she leaves her cheating husband and somehow finds herself the caretaker of a soon-to-be-demolished rec center. I mean, this story sounds so strange and bonkers, and yet I’m intrigued by it! I will definitely be checking this book out at some point.

Oh my God, What a Complete Aisling – Emer McLysaght

I think this is one of those cases where the title of this book enticed me enough to put it on my TBR. I mean, it sounds interesting! And me not being Irish, I am so confused by the summary, which seems to use a lot of Irish slang. it sounds like a humorous book, but a) I don’t know how I’d get ahold of it, because it most definitely won’t be in my library, and b) I worry about how much will go over my head. I think I’ll keep this one on the back burner for now.

Mary, Bloody Mary – Carolyn Meyer

I. Love. Books. About. Royals. I think I came across this book at work and I was instantly ready to read it. I didn’t get the chance, but I still very much want to. This is not only the perfect time period for me, but it’s also part of a whole series! So, really, it’s just a book series centering on a different royal for each book. Sign me up! I haven’t read any books yet about Mary Tudor, so I think this would be an interesting start. It is historical fiction, rather than a non-fiction title, but I do enjoy historical fiction from this period. Definitely a keeper!

Undead Girl Gang – Lily Anderson

Who doesn’t want to read a book about a girl gang, let alone a dead girl gang? And of course, there’s also witchcraft. Are you hooked yet? Because I am! This book…I don’t know why I haven’t read it yet, but it just sounds so cool! This book is also a murder mystery – the main character, who likes to practice witchcraft with her friend, ends up having to bring her back from the dead, along with a couple other girls. Most people believe it to be a suicide pact, but our main character is sure it’s murder and she’s going to get to the bottom of it! I think I’d like to make a loose plan to read this book this Halloween…let’s see if I can actually follow through with that!

Macbeth – Jo Nesbø

This book is in the series of books being written by authors transforming Shakespeare plays into modern adaptations. I have not read any of these books so far, although I do have another from this series on my TBR and I might even put Gillian Flynn’s Hamlet adaptation on there as well…But I don’t know. I know these books get mixed reviews. I do love me some Shakespeare. I just have to decide if I’m interested in seeing these classics modernized and adapted, mostly by authors I haven’t read anything from. I’ve never read any of Nesbø’s books before. Do I want to start with a Macbeth adaption?
