Boy, what a weird month! It started out fairly normal, and then halfway through, work is essentially cancelled and I find myself with a lot of free time while I wait out this health-crisis. Covid-19 has wreaked havoc on my life, but I’ve been keeping a positive attitude and have tried to think about things from a glass-half full perspective. Case in point: I now have more time to read!
Anyway, I did meet the majority of my goals with one exception – The Thanksgiving Play, which was part of my TBR for this month, had the e-book publication pushed back numerous times, so I was unable to get ahold of a copy this month. Favorite Book of the Month:
This is a little bittersweet for me because this book is the end of a much loved series for me. I enjoyed every book in this series and this final book was no exception. I really had a blast reading it. It made me laugh frequently and I just love the characters. I really hope Tromly continues to write, because I’d love to read more from her!
Least Favorite Book of the Month:
So, this is a 3-way tie (would have been a 4-way tie if I had managed to get my hands on the 4th book before everything shut down, but oh well!). Now, you might be wondering why I decided to keep reading this series after rating the first book a 1-Star…Well, I read a review from someone else that kind of stuck with me. This series is like junk-food. You just can’t stop eating it. Or, in this case, it’s a train-wreck and you just can’t stop watching to see what happens. Never have I ever read something so insensitive, sexist, misogynistic, and badly written. This series is pure garbage and for some reason wants you (the reader) to sympathize with a doormat and an a-hole. Really some of the worst I’ve ever read.

My dark Vanessa seems to be everywhere lately! I think I am going to read it eventually. The topic is not something that I enjoy reading about but since it is so praised, I will give it a shot 😉

I’ve seen it everywhere, too. I’m sure it’s going to be very hyped, but I do think it’s well written and worth the read! It’s not my favorite thing to read about, either, but definitely read it at some point.

Thank you! And yeah, I definitely would recommend steering clear. Todd is not a good author, and for some reason she has written a book where the relationship is abusive but not treated like it is and many who read this book somehow find the abusive character attractive…It’s really icky.
