Top 5 Authors U – Z | Top 5 Tudesdays

Hello again! It’s Tuesday, and of course that means it’s time for a Top 5 post. Top 5 Tuesdays and their topics are brought to you by Shanah @ the Bionic Bookworm. Check out her blog, she’s awesome, and this page for the list of topics for March!

I apologize for posting this so late! My schedule is all crazy now with the current health crisis. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well despite everything!

This group of letters is always difficult, but I think I finished this thematic month well. Hope you all agree!

U is for Ngozi Ukazu!

Ok, I’ll be real here and admit Ukazu is the only author whose work I’ve read whose last name begins with U. Her comic Check, Please! was a really cute LGBTQ+ story of a college hockey player. I look forward to the next book in the series!

V is for Chris Van Allsburg!

I’m happy to promote a picture book author here. Picture books are very much a part of my job, but I’ve also always loved them for their beauty and the joy they can bring. Allsburg is a wonderful writer. You might be familiar with his book The Polar Express, which has also been adapted into an animated film! His books are always unique and memorable, and I am happy to shine a spotlight on him here.

W is for Andy Weir

I’ve talked about my love for The Martian before on this blog, but now I get to talk about how much I love Andy Weir! Though I haven’t read any of his other works, I love The Martian so much that it’s enough for me to include him in a Top 5. He’s a great writer and this book makes me laugh and gives me comfort. If you haven’t read it, you should!

X is for…

I got nothing!

Y is for Rick Yancey

I love Yancey’s 5th Wave series. He’s got a great imagination and I love his contribution to the sci-fi genre. I also really love his characters. I think he writes really compelling people that feel like real people. I have year to read any more works by him, but this will hopefully change soon!

Z is for Marcus Zusak

I’ll be honest and say I didn’t have many options in the Z department. I’ve read Zusak’s I Am the Messenger, and thought it was ok. But I think he’s a decent writer and I do think I will eventually read The Book Thief. Let me know in the comments if you think I need to step on it and read this book already!

Thoughts & Thanks!

So, any of your favorite authors make my list? Which letters are you looking forward to most? Make sure to check back again next Tuesday for the next installment!

Thank you for reading this post. And, as always, happy reading!
