Honestly, who knows what this month will bring…I’m not working, so I have a lot of downtime on my hands. I might end up reading more than normal, and I might not, simply because I have no schedule. But I’m looking forward to the lineup I’ve planned for myself for this month!

My Reading Goals

Book Riot’s Read Harder Challenge 2020

Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed: This book fulfills the “read a middle grade book that doesn’t take place in the US or the UK” prompt. I’m looking forward to this book because this book is set in a place I don’t know very much about: Pakistan. It’s always nice to read about cultures you don’t know very much about and I haven’t read anything by Saeed, either, so I’m looking forward to getting to read from a new-to-me author. Plus, this cover is so, so beautiful!

Reading Women Challenge 2020

This Time Will Be Different by Misa Sugiura: This book fulfills the “book by either a favorite or new-to-you publisher” prompt. In my case, this is a book published by a favorite publisher, HarperTeen. I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while now, so I’m really excited to be reading it this month! It just seems like an atypical YA fic and I’m excited to see how it goes. Also, this is also a beautiful cover. I’m sensing a theme here…I’ll also be reading this for my Year of the Asian Reading Challenge as well!

2020 Diversity Reading Challenge:

Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed: Once again, I’m pairing up this month. Amal Unbound also fits nicely with the monthly challenge prompt for the Diversity Reading challenge, “poc: Middle Eastern/South Asian.” I was sad not to be able to read my book choice for last month’s prompt, even though I was able to read something else. But that will not happen this month, because I currently have a copy of this book! Again, I’m really looking forward to reading this book.

Vicious by V.E. Schwab: Yes, I’m still plugging away at this prompt. I purchased a copy of this book a while back – it’s signed! And I really do like the cover art for this particular edition. I have been planning on reading this book for so long! I’m glad to finally be able to pick it up again. It also happens to fulfill another Reading Women Challenge prompt: “A book that’s frequently recommended to you.” I have definitely seen this book promoted all over and I’ve been told that it’s a great read. I’m looking forward to it.

ARC of the Month

By the Book by Amanda Sellet: This is a YA romance that sounds right up my alley! The MC loves reading classic romance stories and using them as guides for her own dating habits. I mean, that sounds like something that I might do! I’m hoping this book turns out to be as cute as it sounds. It presents a enemies to lovers scenario, and I do enjoy this trope – if it’s well constructed. I’m hoping I really do enjoy it.

My TBR Pick:

If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio: I felt like a little Shakespeare would do me well this month. This book is a murder-mystery involving a group of students at an arts college, all theatre students. When one of them winds up dead, it’s clear that one of them must be the killer. This book has murder, Shakespeare, suspense, and a colorful cast of suspects. I’m looking forward to working my way through this mystery.
