I saw this tag come up a while ago on Amy Leigh Reads’s blog. It looked like a quick, fun tag and I thought it might be nice to share some of my reading habits with you all!
How many books do you usually read at once?
I’m generally reading between 3-5 books at a time. Sometimes more, if I’m trying to make a deadline I’ve set for myself! But it’s not so bad. I’ve found I’m really not a one-book-at-a-time reader (unless it’s a page turner and I can’t put it down for anything!)
How do you decide when to switch between multiple reads?
I have a pretty short attention span, even with books. I tend to switch after a few chapters or so, depending on how involved the story is where I’m at in the book.
Do you ever switch bookmarks partway through a book?
Only if I lose the one I’m currently using. I don’t always use an actual “bookmark” per se. Mostly I use whatever’s around.
Where do you keep the books you’re currently reading?
All. Over. The. Place. Honestly, if I’m really invested, I keep them by with me wherever I’m at. My bedside at night, on the couch, at work with me.
What time of day do you read the most?
It really depends on if it’s a workday or not. I usually read more in the evenings, but sometimes morning is better. I read whenever I have the time.
How long do you typically read in one session?
Usually 20-30 minutes. Like I said, I have a pretty short attention span, so if I’m not really glued to the story of a book, I usually just read a few chapters or so and stop or switch books.
Do you read hardcovers with the dust jacket off?
Most of the time, yes! Especially if the jacket is really loose on the book, or if I don’t want it to get damaged.
What position do you mainly use to read?
All kinds of positions, ha! I read sitting up, I read lying down, I read all squished up. It’s really not one single way because I just move around a lot in general. I sleep the same way – all over the place!
Do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?
That would be an emphatic yes. I don’t like being without my books. It’s convenient when my current books are ebooks, because I always have my phone with me so I can read them. But I take my physical books around with me, too. it can get pretty bad if I’m going on a trip, because I have to really be choosy about what I want to bring with me!
How often do you update your Goodreads reading progress?
Usually only when I’ve made a decent amount of progress. Sometimes that means every day, sometimes it’s every couple of days.
