Many book bloggers I’m following participate in this weekly exercise and I want to give it ago. I miss my regular Tuesday posts. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl – be sure to check her blog for more information and for the list of topics.
Books That Make Me Hungry:
The Goldie Bear Culinary Mystery series by Diane Mott Davidson

This is a murder-mystery series that features an amateur sleuth whose day job is catering. I love this series and it’s actually pretty cool because the author includes recipes for the food that Goldie cooks in the book. It’s definitely bound to make you hungry – it definitely makes me hungry!
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Okay, here me out! I actually didn’t get hungry the first time I read this book. But then, in college, I took a class – Food in Literature – and we actually read this book. When I was actively looking for mentions of food and how it relates to thematic elements in the book, I certainly did get hungry!
Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer

I read this book when I was younger and I really loved it. It’s been a long time since I’ve read it, but it takes place in a diner and I’m positive it made me hungry when I read it. I think I also really wanted to work in a diner, just like Hope, but I don’t think I’d have been very good at it!
The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

This is one of my favorite books. I love Sarah Dessen and I think this book will always be my favorite of hers. Macy gets a job at a catering business (another one!) and I definitely got during all the food-prep and serving scenes.
If You Give a Moose a Muffin by Laura Joffe Numeroff

There are so many children’s books I could include on this list that have made me hungry (I work in children’s lit, so I come across a lot of these!), but this book will always stick out in my mind because the muffins always look so good to me and it really makes me want to eat a muffin! Plus, I love the moose. He’s so great – he makes the story, honestly.
Check, Please by Ngozi Ukazu

Though this book centers on hockey, the main character, Bitty, is a major cook, specifically a pastry chef, since he’s always baking pies and other warm, buttery goods. Are you hungry yet, cause I know I am! I love pie and this book is a lot of fun, and the food is bound to get your mouth watering.

Thoughts & Thanks!
I know that wasn’t 10, but I only wanted to include books that really made me hungry, and mostly centered on food. I will be curious to see what other books will be on other Top Ten lists for this topic. I’d love to hear your top books that make you hungry. Post your picks or maybe even your favorite or go-to foods to satisfy your hunger – let’s chat about it in the comments!
Thank you for reading this post. And, as always, happy reading!
