Last Current Next is a fun, quickly little window into my reading habits. I get to talk about the book I read last, one of the books I’m reading currently (yours truly is not a monogamous reader, I have many books in my currently reading stack, and I’m too excited to stick to just one book, I mean…), and the book(s) I plan on reading next.

Last Read: The Last Girls Standing by Jennifer Dugan

This was an ARC I received through NetGalley and it was…interesting. I feel like the premise is a bit misleading, because I was expecting more mystery surrounding the actual attacks that the main character survives, but it’s actually more focused on her mental breakdown and the toxic relationship she forms with the other surviving girl. It’s more character study than gripping thriller, and I found the ending to be…unsatisfying? I’m still not fully sure how I feel, just that I wasn’t completely happy with it or with the story itself.

Current Read: The Name Drop by Susan Lee

Currently, I am reading The Name Drop by Susan Lee, another ARC I received. I’m really enjoying this one. It’s light (which is nice after the very dark book I just finished), funny, and has a quirky main character. I think this one is definitely going to give me the feels, especially when the romance starts to bloom. I’m also just looking forward to enjoying an easy, uncomplicated read.

Next Read: Thieves’ Gambit by Kayvion Lewis

I’m really excited for Thieves’ Gambit. I received an ARC for it and I’m just really excited to dive into a heist/thievery story. I’m expecting it to be a bit Ocean’s 11, which is one of my favorite movies, mixed in with some family drama and maybe a bit of romance. We’ll see. All I know is, I’m looking for some action-packed fun and I really hope this one delivers!
