Hello and welcome! Thank you so much for visiting. Now that your here, you can learn a little bit about me and about my blog!
About the blog
Though I, as a reader, have been blogging for many years, The Knitpick began in 2021 after I decided to combine my love of reading with my own crafting inclinations, most foremost: knitting!
This blog is where I can share my passion for reading, crafting, and overall enjoyment of the artsy life. It is where I pour out my thoughts on the books I’m reading, the books I love, and the books I cannot wait to read. As many avid readers know, the to-be-read pile is endless, there is never enough time to read every book, but we sure as heck will try!
I hope for this blog to be not just a source of book recommendations for fellow readers, but also a place to express joy over the books/authors we love, to share our own bookish delights and tendencies, and also to be a space of comfort and escape from the stresses and anxieties of the world. I love the book community and it makes me happy to be a part of such a wide and ranging group of people.
About me
Hello, I’m Sara. I’m a thirty-something youth librarian from the Midwest. When I’m not reading, I’m probably crafting – knitting, cross-stitch, sewing, you name it! Or I’m playing board games with my friends. And blogging – of course!
Some bookish things to know about me:
- I am an eclectic reader – I’ll give any book a try, though I to steer clear of some genres.
- I read many books at once – I’m just too excited to commit to one at a time!
- I do not have a favorite book – different books suit different moods.
- I use any number of items on hand for a bookmark – never dogear a page, it is a pet peeve of mine.
- I prefer reading physical books and audiobooks over ebooks, but ebooks are great for travel!
- It is rare for a book to make me cry – laugh, yes; rave, yes; but crying…it’s got to be a real tearjerker!
(Some) of my favorite books:
- Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
- Anything by Jane Austen
- The Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane by Kate DiCamillo
- Landscape with Invisible Hand by M.T. Anderson
- The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
- The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- A Room with a View by E.M. Forster
- Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupe
- The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
